Project Manager

Gilbert White & The Oates Collections (GWOC), an independent and accredited Museum,  wishes to appoint a Project Manager to work with the Trustees and the Hampshire County Council (HCC) Architect and Team, to reinstate Gilbert White’s 18th century Stable Yard – including stables, loose box and coach house, to provide a welcoming new entrance, assembly point and orientation space. The house where Gilbert lived for most of his life is Grade l listed and dates back to the 17th Century, with additions in every century since. Some parts are Grade ll listed. Internally the capital works will principally involve reconfiguring existing spaces to improve the visitor circulation and services, whilst creating a flexible education/exhibition space. The development and design work is supported by a First Round award from the Heritage Lottery Fund.  The proposed project completes a long-term strategy for sustainability. The vision is to share the relevance of the study and exploration of the natural world through all the heritage assets. All elements of the capital programme are interlinked, providing a coherent and cost effective approach to the updating of our facilities.

Expressions of Interest must be lodged by Wednesday 5 November by e-mail to: miriamtong@gilbertwhiteshouse.org.uk.

Tenders to be submitted by no later than midday on Wednesday 19 November as detailed in the Project Manager’s Appointment Brief.

Interview date Wednesday 26 November.
