“Watching Narrowly” – Poetry Evening

“Watching Narrowly” – A tour of Hampshire Poets to Hampshire Towns & Villages
An evening of poetry

19th August 7-9pm
In the Field Studies Centre

To commemorate the 300th anniversary of Gilbert White’s birth, Winchester Poetry Festival and Kathryn Bevis, Hampshire Poet 2020, present a special tour of Hampshire poets to Hampshire villages.  “Watching narrowly” is how Gilbert White described his own method of observing the living world. It’s also a pretty good way of thinking about the poet’s job: to look carefully and afresh at the world around her in order to make it new.

The tour will feature some of the finest poets writing and working in Hampshire today.  As well as performing poems responding to the natural world and the creatures around us, each poet will also be invited to showcase the very best of their work on other themes close to their heart.

Expect to be entertained, moved and, perhaps above all, inspired to take different look at the world around you.
